Etobicoke Seniors’ Mixed Curling

The Etobicoke Seniors’ Mixed Curling was founded in 1995 under the direction of the late Linda Christianson, co-ordinator with the Etobicoke Recreation Association.

The first curling location in 1995 was at the HumberHighlands C.C. From 1997 until 2003, the group curled at St George’s C.C and the Boulevard C.C In 2004 it relocated to High Park C.C where it presently curls.

Although members have come and gone over the 16 years, there is a small core group of founding members still curling at High Park. Present membership fluctuates between 40 and 50 members.

The curling schedule every Monday from 12 to 2PM., during the months of Oct. through April. A “drop-in/draw” is popular with retirees. There is no team commitment, but a great opportunity for mixed play within the group.

Volunteers head committees that organize: the weekly draw, after curling coffee, 50/50 tickets and all social activities. A bonspiel is held twice during the season to celebrate Christmas and Spring closing. These spiels are highlighted with prizes and dinner.

Because the management at High Park Club has welcomed and accommodated our Monday group, curling has become an affordable exercise with friends.
